The third wave of New Coronary Pneumonia broke out in Hong Kong. There were 30 new cases of local infections in Hong Kong yesterday (12th). There is controversy over whether the book fair to be unveiled on Wednesday (15th) should be held as scheduled. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council said today (13th) that public health is the primary consideration and announced that the Hong Kong Book Fair, Hong Kong Sports Leisure Expo, Education and Vocational Expo and Entrepreneurship Day will be postponed. Those holding valid tickets can apply for refunds. Details will be announced on the book fair website. The TDC also stated that it will liaise with different stakeholders to discuss specific arrangements, and will announce the latest developments in due course.
HKTDC: I believe that it is difficult to track contacts
The TDC announced today (13th) that in view of the rise in the number of new coronavirus diagnoses in the past week, after discussing with the government over the past weekend, the government has tightened the social distance restrictions based on public health risks in response to the latest epidemic developments. According to the TDC, even if different precautions have been taken, it is difficult to track contact cases, so it should be avoided.
The TDC reiterates that the health of the public is the primary consideration. Therefore, the Hong Kong Book Fair, Hong Kong Sports Leisure Expo, Education and Career Expo and Entrepreneurship Day will be postponed.
TDC: citizens can apply for refund
According to the TDC, citizens with valid tickets can apply for refunds, but they are not applicable to gift tickets and VIP tickets. Details will be announced on the book fair website. On the entrepreneurial day held on July 16 and 17, the online live seminar will be held online as scheduled. As for the arrangement of the exhibition, the conference will also announce relevant details in due course.
The TDC stated that it understands that the extension will disappoint the industry, exhibitors and the public. As for the activities after the extension, the Government will continue to provide support to the industry through the measures of the Epidemic Prevention Fund. The TDC will liaise with different stakeholders to discuss the specific arrangements and will announce the latest developments in due course.

As the epidemic in Hong Kong became more and more serious, many exhibitors proposed to withdraw or request extensions yesterday (13th). The KMB participating in the book fair issued a statement saying that it decided to withdraw due to the safety of employees and customers; and the "2020 Hong Kong Book Fair Concern Group" also received replies from nearly 200 booth vendors, all of whom hoped that the book fair would be postponed. Held, it will consider not to enter the room or cancel the rent directly, and ask the organizer to refund the deposit.
