The building will be the subject of special attention within the French recovery plan, announced this Sunday the Minister responsible for Housing, Emmanuelle Wargon. This economic area is part of one of the plan's two priorities, " investment ", she said. Support is needed for this sector of activity, which weighs "" 10% of French gross domestic product ".

The building, both on construction and renovation, will therefore benefit from aid estimated between “ 4 and 5 billion euros ”, detailed the member of the government. Discussions are underway at the Ministry of Economy on the exact amount. This aid should allow the State to establish a close link between " ecology and the economy ": investments in construction will be used in particular to renovate public infrastructure, such as " universities, schools, hospitals " . At the same time, households will also benefit. Objective: to help them " do work at home ".
The building sector has been particularly affected by containment. The president of the French Building Federation (FFB), Olivier Salleron, recently estimated that activity should drop by 18% this year. The sector could suffer this year "the loss of about 120,000 jobs, and the dropout could reach up to 200,000 jobs in 2021" , he worried.
More broadly, the recovery plan will also contain measures to promote " employment ", the plan's second major priority. " Measures are in preparation, they have not yet been decided, but we know that we want to support the employment of young people in the form of direct aid to businesses, " said Emmanuelle Wargon.
