Accustomed to playing with the codes of the American style in his collections, the creator Spencer Phipps has fun this time, in a short film, to appropriate the genre of the western.

"Spirit of Freedom", the video presentation of the Phipps collection, revealed this Monday morning, is a parody of western trailers. The attention to detail is extreme: Spencer Phipps, the creator behind the brand, even went so far as to design fake merchandising to accompany the (fictitious) release of the film, like a sweatshirt on which the poster is printed. official.

“At the start of the confinement, I thought that Fashion Week would be canceled. We needed an alternative to present our work. The collection was inspired by the golden age of Hollywood, so why not make a film, ” laughs Phipps from his Paris studio. The entire collection borrows from the codes of the Americana, American icons like Marlon Brando, and the Mojave Desert. On the shirts, prints depicting lethal desert animals, coyote, rattlesnake, scorpions, or a cactus camouflage that dresses up a jumpsuit. The jackets are adorned with details that would not displease Joe Exotic, the hero of Tiger King, like fringes. Silk pajamas are decorated with desert flowers.

“It's fun content, a story that fits well with what we are going through. I hope people will want to share it among themselves, watch it, laugh about it, ” enthuses Phipps, who sees digital Fashion Week as a great way to get people talking about him and his brand, via content he hopes will go viral. “The brand is usually very serious, especially when we take a stand for the environment. We wanted to do something different, curious. It goes beyond fashion, and is for everyone who loves cinema. "
