Ivorian vice-president Daniel Kablan Duncan, 77, has resigned from his post, presidential secretary general Patrick Achi announced on Monday that the country is in mourning after the death of Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly on July 8.

" Vice-President Daniel Kablan Duncan submitted to the President of the Republic his resignation from the post of Vice-President for reasons of personal convenience on February 27 (...). After several interviews, the last of which took place on July 7, the president took note and proceeded on July 8 to the signing of a decree terminating the duties of Mr. Kablan Duncan, "said a press release read by Patrick Achi.
