Another signal to approach Gantz? MK Moshe Gafni (Torah Judaism), a senior member of the ultra-Orthodox Knesset and chairman of the Finance Committee, attacked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today (Monday), following the Likud's support for the Supreme Court's Inquiry Committee.

Gafni argued that at this time it should not lead to coalition crises. This is another signal from the ultra-Orthodox Knesset members that they will not support Netanyahu's possible attempt to dismantle the coalition, despite the frequent crises it is experiencing. "We go with him all the years, we support him all the years," Gafni lamented the prime minister, adding, "he needs to show leadership. We support him.

As mentioned, Gafni's remarks come in response to the Likud's support for MK Bezalel Smutrich's proposal (right) to establish a parliamentary committee to examine the alleged conflicts of interest of Supreme Court justices. The Likud's announcement of support for the committee almost led to the fall of the government due to the Blue and White Party's opposition to the discussion on the issue, and the party's claim that the Likud's support is contrary to the coalition agreement between the parties. Finally, and despite the Likud's support for the proposal, it fell through - after MKs from the ruling party, including Netanyahu himself, did not vote.

The Crisis Committee was another of a series of crises the unity government has experienced since its inception, on many issues - some issues of honor and power, and some issues of principle, such as the application of sovereignty in Judea and Samaria. In recent months it has even been reported that Netanyahu is interested in going to the polls in light of the friction in the government and his situation in the polls, but as reported here, the ultra-Orthodox parties seem to oppose the move and ties between Blue and White chairman
