The ex-spouse of a woman killed by firearm in the street in Saint-Quentin (Aisne) was indicted for " murder by spouse " and imprisoned, AFP learned Monday at the prosecution.

Around 4 pm Friday, this woman had received " between two and four " shots according to witnesses and had died " as a result of her injuries ", according to the Saint-Quentin prosecution. The suspected man, 46, was arrested two hours later. Wounded by the firearm, he was taken into police custody and transported to the hospital.
The case could bring the number of alleged femicides since the start of the year to at least 37, according to an AFP count. In 2019, AFP recorded at least 126 cases of women killed by their partner or ex, i.e. a woman every three days on average.
