Lin Zhiyuan said to the media that he is actively considering running for the Legislative Council election this year. He pointed out that the wages of working hours in the industry have not improved over the years, and he is dissatisfied with the bill "Professional Accountants (Amendment) Bill 2018" proposed by Liang Jichang in the Legislative Council last April.

Earlier, a trade union in the accounting profession signed a signature against the passage of the "Hong Kong version of the National Security Law", which believed that it would affect the work of accountants in writing audit reports for mainland enterprises. In this regard, Lin Zhiyuan pointed out that accountants have worked in the Mainland for many years and maintained a professional attitude. For many years, they have been safe and sound, and will not lose professional ethics because of the entry into force of the National Security Law. He pointed out that the Mainland’s national security laws are stricter than those in Hong Kong, but he has never heard an accountant worry about working in the Mainland. Criticize someone for creating panic and restlessness.

Lin Zhiyuan, the former president of the Chinese Accountants Association, is closely related to the government’s heavyweights. When he was elected in 2012, he was supported by Chen Maobo, the current accounting member and the current Financial Secretary, and was accused of being Chen's "disciple." In this regard, Lin Zhiyuan laughed and said that he has been a lecturer for many years and is familiar with many people. "Allow me to arrogantly speak, I am really a master of Quxi!"

Lin Zhiyuan revealed that the "Accounting Community of Love" has recently focused on anti-epidemic work, and has searched out masks to donate to the grassroots and disadvantaged communities; and contacted the accountant building to establish a career matching platform to assist accountants in finding jobs. He also mentioned that at the beginning of the year, the organization requested the Financial Secretary and relevant regulatory agencies to extend the deadline for all relevant financial declarations, and called on major companies to allow employees to work from home.
