Naya Rivera saved her son before drowning, according to authorities

The 33-year-old star had disappeared on July 8 while sailing with her young son on the lake in California, United States.

And just during the afternoon press conference given by the Ventura County authorities, a shocking fact was revealed: Naya Rivera died trying to save her son so that he would not drown.

Josey Hollis Dorsey, the artist's 4-year-old son, told investigators that his mother took him back to the deck of his rented boat before disappearing underwater, authorities explained.

"After talking to the son, we know that he and Naya swam in the lake at some point in the day. The little boy described that he was helped by Naya to get on the boat, who pushed him from behind to the deck, " explained Bill Ayub, the county sheriff, in front of the press.

And it ended with a disturbing image: that the boy then turned to  see her disappear into the water .

"She must have gathered enough energy to get her son back to the ship, but not enough to save herself, " Ayub said.

An adventure with a sad ending

Rivera and her son Josey had rented a boat on the lake with the idea of ​​having fun together in contact with nature. They say they arrived at about 1:00 p.m. in the Los Padres National Forest lake in Los Angeles .

At one point, the actress decided to dive for a swim. And it was precisely between 16 and 17 that the drifting boat appeared. With the little one sleeping upstairs.

"Mom jumped into the lake and did not return," the boy had told officers who found him. According to reports, he was wearing his life jacket .

Since that Wednesday, July 8, an intense and distressing search was launched, with divers that covered the entire area of ​​the lake.
