It is understood that the male victim is a street sleeper who has no fixed residence and has a criminal record. At the time of the incident, a McDonald's female cleaner was cleaning the toilet as usual. During the time, someone found that someone was locked in the toilet of the men's toilet. She called for no response, so she notified the manager. The manager opened the toilet door, and found the male comatose and called the police. The ambulance arrived at the scene to confirm the death of the male victim. The police officer seized the syringe in the toilet and was investigating whether it was related to the case.

After the incident, a notice was posted outside the McDonald's branch, stating that "in response to operational needs, our restaurant will close early." A McDonald's spokesman said the incident has been referred to the police and they will fully assist in the investigation. McDonald's has arranged a professional cleaning service provider to go to the restaurant for thorough disinfection after the police complete the investigation.
