The origin of the incident has not been communicated, but according to Iribnews , the firefighters are still working to control the fire. The public service broadcaster published images showing a fire truck and several men spraying water on at least three typical fishing vessels in southern Iran. Seven boats were damaged but no one was injured, the official Irna agency said, citing a local official.
The province of Bouchehr is home to the eponymous nuclear power plant, the only one in the country to date, which produces 1,000 megawatts of electricity. The power station is located about twenty kilometers from the city. Since early July, several fires and explosions have been reported in Iran.
Officially presented as accidents
Two explosions took place in Tehran, one near a military site and the other in a hospital (19 dead). A third took place in a factory south of the city, killing two people. These events were officially presented as accidents, but many Iranians see them rather as the result of clandestine Israeli actions. Tehran is the sworn enemy of Israel, which accuses in particular the Islamic Republic of seeking to acquire the atomic bomb for one day perhaps to use it against it, which Iran denies.
