Mortars, clashes with the police, fire, arrests and police custody. The night of July 14 was agitated. As usual, the prefecture of police did not release figures of incidents, arrests and police custody at night.

An apartment on fire because of a mortar

The first scuffles began in the early evening, before the fireworks. At 7.48 p.m., in the 13th arrondissement, rue Paul-Bourget, Porte d'Italie, an apartment on the 1st floor caught fire following mortar fire. Eight fire stations, 50 firefighters and twenty vehicles were mobilized to deal with the incident. The fire spread all over the facade, up to the 8th floor of a dilapidated building, without however injuring anyone.

In the 14th century, the Porte de Vanves was the scene of clashes between young people and the police, as did the rue Vercingétorix (14th century), Place Modigliani (15th century) and the slab of the Olympiads (13th century) illustrated the previous night, with mortar fire, fireworks and trash and pallet fires.

Youth and police clashes

In the 19th century, clashes also took place that night between groups of young people, some on scooters and the police, especially in the Danube district. Around three in the morning, detonations - small fireworks and mortar fire - sounded on Boulevard Serrurier and Avenue du Général Brunet. In the 20th century, there was a fire on a building and a voluntary fire in a parking lot on rue Pelleport. Three cars went up in smoke.

Molotov cocktail jets on CRS

Shortly after midnight, rue de l'Orme, behind boulevard Serrurier (19th century), young people passing by in the car threw Molotov cocktails towards the CRS. Their report was broadcast over the police. Three hours later, the BAC (anti-crime brigade) of the 10th arrondissement arrested the perpetrators. In their car, the police got hold of other Molotov cocktails. The CRS have complained.

In the early evening, at 8:20 p.m., rue du Colonel-Pierre-Avia (15th), a RATP machinist was violently attacked by two individuals. They threw a Molotov cocktail in his bus and sprayed him with tear gas. The victim, burned on the arm, was taken to the Georges Pompidou hospital (15th century).
