The son of the secretary of the parish in which the priest Oscar Juárez was assassinated last Wednesday was arrested as a suspect in the case for the investigation of the crime, after a raid on his house where clothes and shoes apparently stained with blood and a sharp element that could have been the murder weapon.
Police sources assured that they arrived at the suspect, who was 30 years old and whose identity was not provided, after analyzing the municipal security cameras , and that the arrest was carried out today during a raid on a home located in the Hernán Cortez passage at 3200, in the Villa Luján neighborhood, in the provincial capital.
The prosecutor in the case, Adriana Giannoni, personally supervised the different tasks carried out by the investigators in the home, where they found key elements for the investigation.
The investigators arrived at that house from a monitoring of the security cameras located near the San Martín de Porres church, where the priest was killed with 14 stab wounds.
From these tasks, they managed to observe a white car in the area, at a time coincident with the one that would have been used by the author of the crime to escape from the place, and when following the route of that vehicle, they arrived at the house where they were carried out the judicial measure.
Clothes and footwear were found in the place, which have stains that will be analyzed to determine if it is blood. Similar traces were also found in the vehicle in which the detainee was moving and during the search, a sharp cutting element was found that will be assessed to establish if it is the murder weapon.
Based on the collected elements, the Prosecutor's Office ordered the apprehension of the suspicion and ordered the kidnapping of the vehicle.
Initially, the main hypothesis that was handled was that Juárez had been the victim of a homicide at the time of the robbery , but now the case could have a turn due to the proximity of the victim with the apprehended.
The priest's body, covered by a sheet, was discovered on Wednesday morning by an employee of the parish, who saw that the doors of the house where Juárez was staying were violated.
The 67-year-old victim had been a priest for 42 years and for the last 13 years he was in charge of the San Martín de Porres parish, according to sources from the archbishopric.
