The Loading and Unloading guild is close to closing a 10% increase for all activity. And the e-commerce firm gave a bonus of $ 500 to its staff.

Historical rivals, Luis Barrionuevo and Hugo Moyano seemed to have abandoned the pulsed politics of other times. What's more: the gastronomic leader had called the truck driver at the end of June to offer his condolences for the death of his mother.

But the tensions were revived last week, after the blockade that Truckers made to five distribution centers that the Mercado Libre company has in the City and the Conurbano. The protest by the Moyano union was for the 1,250 employees who work in a Mercado Libre storage center that are affiliated with the Loading and Unloading union and that Truckers want to list as their own .

Loading and Unloading is led by unionist Daniel Vila , who is part of Luis Barrionuevo's CGT Azul y Blanca, a space that seemed disjointed but that got nervous after being hit by Mercado Libre staff . Vila is a pure neighborhood barrionuevista.

With Hugo Moyano confined since the start of the pandemic in his department of Barracas, the one who took the reins of Truckers is his eldest son Pablo , in fact number two in the union. It was he who launched the protest last week.

In other times, Truckers found fertile land to join affiliates from other unions because the wages of their agreement were better than those of other activities. C aballito battle of Hugo Moyano was: "Our claims arise because people ask us that we represent."

But in Mercado Libre he found another reality. Now it is the workers affiliated to Loading and Unloading who do not want to change their union membership. The reason is simple. "Their wages are below ours, " the union leader, Daniel Vila , told Clarín . "Our basic is at about $ 78,000, about $ 20,000 above that of Truckers," he added.

The union also closed an agreement with Mercado Libre to pay its workers a bonus of US $ 500 for the tasks they had to carry out so far in quarantine.

But what stands out as the total closure of the Truckers' claims to capture the workers of Mercado Libre is that Loading and Unloading is about to close a 10% wage rise agreement on behalf of the joint venture with the companies in the sector .

The union has about 9,000 workers. In addition to the e-commerce firm, it has affiliates in tax warehouses, free zones, and the paper and sugar industry.

Truckers blocked a Mercado Libre distribution center last Thursday.

The parity has expired since June and that 10% would be until the annual salary increase agreement can be closed. This Monday at 4 pm the parties meet to try to sign the agreement.

The Truckers parity has also expired since June. But the negotiations are completely bogged down with the three chambers that group the activity. Pablo Moyano demanded "a payment on account, a percentage or a bonus", but the businessmen argue that they have no margin for the fall in activity during the pandemic.

The scenario that was presented to the Moyano after the claim on Mercado Libre is unpublished . Until now, they have been accustomed - it was practically a habit - to attract members of other unions without inconvenience, which has brought internal fissures within the CGT in the last decade .

In 2011 it was calculated that Truckers had taken - "stolen", they said in the trade union - 26,000 workers from the Trade union, more than 10,000 from the Security Union, 5,000 from FATAGA (Gaseous Waters) and around 2,000 from Loading and Unloading . At that time, and by the hand of Carlos Tomada in the Ministry of Labor, everything was resolved in favor of what Moyano wanted.

What seems to reveal the Moyano is that they are left out of one of the legs of a business that has grown exponentially in the last year and a half. In February 2019, when Loading and Unloading closed the agreement with Mercado Libre, 80 employees worked at the Central Market plant. Today it is 1,250. And the expectation is that it continues to grow.
