Naver issued a statement stating that it is now moving the backup server from Hong Kong to Singapore to better manage and protect user data. The company mentioned that Naver Business Platform, a subsidiary, is currently responsible for data management in Hong Kong, and has not received any request for submission of information.
Reuters reported that Naver did not mention the "Hong Kong National Security Act" when describing the reasons for this action. However, since July, many US technology giants such as Facebook and Google have stated that they will suspend processing from the Hong Kong government. The request for information is also said to assess the impact of the Hong Kong version of the National Security Law.
