The first confirmed patient in the E8 ward of the Eastern District Hospital was a 54-year-old male patient who was admitted to the surgical ward on July 13 suspected of appendicitis. The hospital then transferred the patient to an isolation ward and conducted an emergency laboratory test for the patient. The nasopharyngeal swab sample tested positive for the new coronavirus.
