The IDF will reinforce forces on the Lebanese border yesterday, following a situation assessment that concluded that Hezbollah could respond aggressively to a military attack earlier this week in Syria attributed to Israel.

Lebanese sources confirmed to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat that Hezbollah had decided to respond to an attack near Damascus airport that led to the death of an operative in the organization.

Sources close to Hezbollah also said that the response was subject to an equation set by Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah last year, according to which there would be a response from Lebanon in any case of killing one of its operatives in Syria.

Israel also does not rule out the possibility of an Iranian response, which could include launching rockets or drones in the direction of Israel. In the evening, a number of checkpoints were deployed along the northern road. "We see movement, we see preparations, but these are routine things," reassured Giora Salz, head of the Upper Galilee Regional Council.

"The residents are not affected or afraid of the tension, we did not even tell them that everything is going according to routine, so that they will not say afterwards 'If everything is fine, then why should you say that?'"

Owners of B & Bs and guest rooms reported yesterday that vacation cancellations have not yet been recorded as a result of security tensions. "Not only were there no cancellations, but more guests came to us," said Orly Shoshani, owner of B & Bs in Metula, yesterday.
