Five outstanding high school students from the Ethiopian community have successfully completed the Sheba Medical Center's Young Researcher 'project of excellence.

The school year of the education system is over, but for Yair, Noa, Rivka, Amansh and Tadela, there is another exciting end - the five have completed the "Young Researcher" project of Sheba Medical Center. In fact, this was the first time high school students participated in the project alongside 30 medical students.

The HZZ project prepares the following researchers from Israel and combines veteran and young physicians-researchers, using advanced research methods and technologies. Awka - all from the Ethiopian community.

The students were selected in collaboration with the Fidel Association for Education and Social Integration of Ethiopians. According to CEO Michal Avra Samuel: "The association is constantly engaged in the development of excellent programs, projects and projects in which young men and women of Ethiopian descent can be included. "The Hatz project is opening a channel for these youth that would not have been opened to them without the cooperation between the association and Sheba, and we welcome that."

Yair Genber (18), a 12th grade graduate from Beer Yaakov, said: “I joined the program because I was interested in medicine and the idea of doing medical research was very interesting to me. Before the program, I didn't really know all the fields of medicine and I felt that this was an opportunity for me to get a taste of the field. "

This is the 14th year of a project founded in 2006 by Prof. Anat Ahiron. As part of their participation in the project, the students were attached to teams including a medical student and a senior mentor from Sheba, and even won a scholarship.

Prof. Eldad Katorza, head of the HTS program, an expert in gynecology and fetal imaging, said that "there is great importance in integrating young people and exposing them to the variety of activities of the program."
