Last update date: 2020-07-24 19:26The U.S. Department of Justice stated on July 23 that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been in more than 25 cities across the country, questioning people suspected of having connections with the People’s Liberation Army but who did not declare when applying for a visa.
The Ministry of Justice also pointed out in the statement that it has prosecuted four Chinese citizens for concealing their connection with the Chinese People's Liberation Army when applying for visas. The government has arrested three of them, and the remaining one is in the Chinese Embassy in San Francisco.
The Assistant Attorney General for National Security Affairs of the United States Department of Justice John Demers said that when three PLA personnel applied for visas to the United States for research, they concealed their relationship with the military.
He said: "This is another part of the Chinese Communist Party's plan to use our open society and teaching institutions."
The Ministry of Justice and the FBI have arrested three Chinese citizens who were involved in concealing connections with the Chinese People's Liberation Army when applying for visas. The fourth person involved in visa fraud entered the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco after being questioned by the FBI in June.
