The large number of positive cases of coronavirus in recent weeks, totaling 148,027 throughout the country, place Greater Buenos Aires in a worrying place in statistics: the conurbano already has more than half of the cases in Argentina,  with 76,029 infections that represent 51.4% of the total registered since the start of the pandemic.

In the 26 municipalities that surround the City of Buenos Aires, the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants increased compared to the previous week. And within this cut, the southern districts of Greater Buenos Aires are still the most affected.

Avellaneda has 4,295 cases, which gives 1,205.1 infections per 100,000 residents; Quilmes 6,636 positives, with 998.2 per 100,000; and Lanús 4,482 infections, that is 968.4 at that rate. In the fourth place is a western district, Tres de Febrero, which totals 3,326 cases, with an incidence of 966.7 per 100,000 residents.

With more than 12,000 cases, La Matanza is the district with the most positive results. But despite this high number, with its 2.2 million inhabitants, the number of infections per 100,000 inhabitants is 539.9, less than half of what Avellaneda registers, where the outbreak that occurred in May in Villa Azul pushed the indicators and, over the weeks, remains well above average.

Despite the negative data, there are five districts that have around 60% of infected residents have already been discharged . And in six others at least half have recovered. In other words, these 12 territories currently have more residents cured than the disease, a central aspect when evaluating the demand that the health system supports.

Testing in late May in Villa Azul, where an outbreak triggered the indicators of Avellaneda and Quilmes, which have the highest incidence of the pandemic.

Hurlingham and PIlar lead that ranking with 62%. In the small western district, 736 of the 1,183 that were infected since the start of the pandemic were discharged. And in the North zone, 975 of 1,213 patients were recovered. The third place is occupied by San Miguel, which registers 60% of discharged patients, with 1,056 out of 1,749 infected; just over 59% of Escobar (742 cured out of 1,251 infected) and José C. Paz (765 out of 1,288).

Berazategui and Merlo (54%); Lanús (53%), Florencio Varela, Moreno and Morón (52%); and Ezeiza (50%) are the other municipalities of the GBA with more recovered patients than the infection.

Another statistic to consider is duplication of cases. Pilar tops the list with 24 days to double positives , followed by José C Paz with 23 days and Escobar with 22. And at that point comes an encouraging fact for the south: Avellaneda, which is the one with the highest number of infections every 100 thousand inhabitants, it is in 20 days for the duplication of cases.

On the other hand, San Isidro, in the North of the GBA, has the least days to duplicate the cases according to the projections carried out by technicians from the National Technological University, with 13. That municipality has 2,304 positive cases, with 1,093 recovered, a rate of 788.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and 47% of residents recovered from covid.

Of the 76,029 confirmed in the 26 municipalities of Greater Buenos Aires, the total of fatalities is 1,195. On the other hand, the growth in positives is also due to the increase in tests, which reached 225,567.
