The landscape heritage in the spotlight

2020-07-24T12:58:41.905Z

To help owners of historic estates to rehabilitate their parks, gardens and vegetable gardens in an eco-responsible manner, the Etrillard Foundation is launching a new prize, the call for applications for which is underway and will continue until September 21.

The preservation of historic parks and gardens is at least as important as that of our architectural monuments. This is why the Etrillard Foundation, which works for charitable initiatives reconciling tradition and culture with the contemporary world, has just imagined the prize for landscape and ecological heritage.

Behind this initiative, the award aims to support all projects aimed at rehabilitating green spaces while respecting their heritage. Who can apply? All the owners - public or private, in France or in Switzerland - of a park, a forest, a vegetable garden belonging to an area with an anchoring in time, translate owning an old house, a dovecote … The rehabilitation of these places will have to be done in a strong environmental approach - in permaculture or in agroecology.

The latter will then have to commit to opening their doors to the public - at least during European Heritage Days - and to raising their awareness of ecology.

The call for applications began as soon as they left containment and will last until September 21. The jury is made up of experts and personalities from the cultural and architectural world such as Antoine Jacobsohn (in charge of the king's vegetable garden at the Palace of Versailles), Nicolas Laisné (French architect selected for the next Venice International Biennale) or Françoise Dubost (sociologist and research director at CNRS). They will select eight projects before electing the winner on October 28. The latter will receive aid of 30,000 euros to carry out his program.
