At 9 pm, the Observatory Headquarters recorded a temperature of 30.5 degrees Celsius, which was 3.5 degrees lower than the daily maximum temperature of 34 degrees. In many districts in the northern New Territories, the temperature rose to nearly 37 degrees today. Among them, Tai Mei Tuk and Ta Kwu Ling reached 36.8 degrees, and Sheung Shui and Kwun Tong also rose to 36.7 degrees. A total of nine weather stations recorded high temperatures above 36 degrees.
The Observatory is expected to remain extremely hot for the next three days, with temperatures ranging from 28 to 33 degrees, and there will be showers in some areas tomorrow. A broad trough of low pressure is expected to affect the northern part of the South China Sea and the coast of Guangdong in the middle and late next week. The weather will deteriorate from next Wednesday, with more showers and thunderstorms.

As of 7pm, the extremely hot weather warning was still in effect, breaking the record of 348 hours set in 2018, which is the longest-lived extreme heat warning.
