A coup d'état disguised as hugs

Lately I have been closely following the protesters' stormy demonstrations against the Prime Minister near his residence on Balfour Street. Under the guise of demonstrations seeking peace and love, which include meditation, music, handing out flowers to police and even hugs to anyone who demands it, the demonstrators are trying to carry out a government coup.

There is no other way to describe what is happening near the Prime Minister's House. The spreading protest demands that Prime Minister-elect Benjamin Netanyahu resign immediately. The protesters are shouting with a hoarse throat that they will not stop the siege of Balfour as they define it until it is.

One can of course criticize the functioning of the government during the complex and agonizing dealing with the corona plague that has befallen the world, but it is not legitimate to demand a prime minister to leave while hanging on to the corona crisis - when the real reason is political controversy. Much has been said and filmed about police behavior during the evacuation of protesters at the end of protests. Mirrors of fascinating YSM policemen protesting to the ground with a knee to their necks must not be repeated, but the truth must be written: That they repeatedly exceed the approval of the demonstration given to them.

I examined the conduct of Chief of Staff Yaakobi during the demonstrations. He restrains the protesters, politely asking them not to deviate from the terms of the demonstration agreed upon in advance, and despite his good will and the fact that he allows them to demonstrate for about two hours past 11 at night, contrary to the early summary, the demonstrators violate the summary and force the police repeated. Several times a week, in accordance with their decision, the protesters against the prime minister stand on the road on the street next to the prime minister's house and also at the main junction in Paris Square and block the traffic without regard to the residents of Jerusalem. In some of the demonstrations, they marched, blocking the entire center of Jerusalem and also the movement of the light rail. For long hours they shout monotonous slogans in megaphones, making worlds of noise with handouts they hand out to protesters, drumming and even hitting police checkpoints.

This unbearable noise makes the lives of the residents of the Talbiyeh and Rehavia neighborhoods, who live near the demonstration area and the makeshift encampment set up there, miserable. It is clear that the right to protest and the freedom of expression of protesters wherever they are should not be violated, but at the same time it is inconceivable that the residents of Jerusalem, some of them elderly, who live near the demonstration center will suffer permanently. Residents have already appealed to the High Court of Justice, which will come to their aid and restrict the demonstrations. It would be better for the demonstrators to honorably continue their protest in the Independence Garden near the Prime Minister's Residence or in the Sucker Garden, thus continuing to exercise their right to demonstrate, but also to show little consideration for the many residents whose lives have been disrupted due to ongoing protests.
