Three residents who were trying to get rid of a wasp nest were very badly burned. Rescue used the race track

What was supposed to be a service rendered between neighbors turned into a nightmare. Three people were seriously burned this Sunday afternoon, while trying to get rid of a wasp nest.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m., a father and his son went to see a septuagenarian living near their home, avenue des Roses, to help her get rid of annoying insects.

More than 70% burnt

They wanted to soak the nest with rubbing alcohol before setting it on fire. But unfortunately the maneuver caused an explosion.

The first victim, a 57-year-old man, had to be evacuated by helicopter by firefighters. More than 70% of the Val-d'Oisien was burnt. In absolute urgency, he was transported to the Percy hospital in Clamart (Hauts-de-Seine).

Interrupted races

To take it over, the helicopter landed on the Enghien-Soisy racetrack: the races that were taking place at that time were temporarily interrupted.

The victim's 36-year-old son unfortunately suffers from burns as severe as his father. He was evacuated under police escort to Saint-Louis hospital in Paris (10th arrondissement). This is also where the third person affected by the flames was taken. This is the daughter of the owner of the premises. Aged 46, she was burned to 10%, affected in particular on the level of the legs. The resident of the house theater of the accident, who is 70 years old, escaped the tragedy unscathed.

The firefighters recall that the nests of wasps or other troublesome insects must be taken care of by specialists in order to avoid any risk.
