Suddenly everyone is swimming against the current

Once when you would ask a person what impression he would like to make, he would say something in a "smart", "nice" or "decent" style. Today everyone wants to be "special", and not for nothing: at least as special as the specials we like to admire recently. We fell in love with unique people, even if, among us, there is no serious content for "their uniqueness."

In recent weeks this tendency has been biting itself in the ass: out of admiration for swimmers against the current, we have started swimming after them. What does it matter if we drown at the end, the main thing that we swam against the current. Thus, for example, and not out of an interest in hearing a different position and expanding opinion, but out of a fondness for yellow and provocation, the media provides a broad platform for those whose statements about the corona have been proven wrong, and moreover - misleading. Could his messages be dangerous? It does not matter; It's 'different', so it's worth screen time.

This is how another figure burst into our lives in recent weeks: MK Yifat Shasha-Biton, chairwoman of the Knesset's Corona Committee. Going against ". With a hand on the pulse, in a confrontation with the Knesset committee headed by Shasha-Biton and the government position headed by Netanyahu, according to which most of us choose whom to side? Reliable, inaccessible to all of us anyway, and as we have seen, some are entirely open to interpretation.

Seemingly, an impressive demonstration of the importance of the Knesset as a supervisor of government, but in practice the feeling creeps in that regardless of the content of the decisions, the very fact that they were made as decisions as opposed to the government - aroused excitement and sympathy. It is seemingly empowering as well: raising a miracle to a woman who fights almost alone against the great and powerful government (I am in favor), but in practice it is much more complex. It means the establishment of a political counterculture. From now on, any politician who wants to sunbathe in the spotlight will be Shasha-Biton, a rebel, just like that, even if for no reason, just to win a few more points. Irresponsible decisions may be made just because it makes noise; Not on the basis of facts, but on the basis of popular competition.

If we intend to defeat this virus, or even return to being a sane society, it might be worth getting rid of "if it goes 'against', it's probably true." Opposition and confrontation are not an indication of justice. This is the country and this is our life at stake, not competition between social groups in high school.
