(CNN) - The Miami Marlins' inaugural home game was canceled due to positive testing by covid-19 within the team, according to multiple reports in the United States.
The Marlins were due to play against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday, but the match was canceled due to multiple players and staff testing positive for covid-19. This is the first game to be suspended this season.
According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, eight players and two coaches have tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases on the team to at least 14 in recent days.
Miami played its first three dates of the shortened 60-game season in Philadelphia last weekend, winning two of three. Before, the team had gone through Atlanta as part of its preparation for the start of the season.
CNN has contacted MLB (Major League Baseball) and the Marlins awaiting comment.
