Starting today and for two days: celebrities, politicians and public figures began a 48-hour "strike" on Twitter in response to what they defined as "the lack of enforcement of the platform against British rapper Willie".

The rapper (41) published a series of antisemitic remarks against the Jewish people and the State of Israel to half a million followers over the weekend, which provoked a great deal of criticism. Now the rapper, who is considered a prominent figure in the local music scene, is facing a police investigation. As of this moment, while some of his charged tweets have been deleted - there have been some that have remained. British Home Secretary Pretty Patel said media companies should "act much faster in order to remove such horrific hatred from their platforms".

Diaspora Minister MK Omer Yankelevich told Israel Today in the matter: "Social networks, and Twitter in particular, must immediately take responsibility for the content published on them. "Freedom of expression cannot be a pretext for spreading hatred, anti-Semitism and racism."

"Networks must apply to anti-Semitism the same rules established against incitement and violence. The Diaspora Ministry, as part of its responsibility for the fight against anti-Semitism on behalf of the government, requires social networks to adopt the definition of anti-Semitism as a binding tool for antisemitic content."

The DIGItell network, established by the Ministry of Strategic Affairs, headed by Minister Orit Farkash HaCohen, also participates in the campaign, as a platform for bio-influencing the network of pro-Israel network around the world. "Social networks suffer from an equally serious infection from the corona virus - the hate virus. While the broad mobilization in the UK for this fight is encouraging, it also indicates a serious crisis of confidence between the public and those who run the new 'City Square' - social networks."

European communities welcome the initiative

The current move has drawn a string of references from European community leaders. The chairman of the Association of Jewish Organizations in Europe, Rabbi Menachem Margolin, welcomed the initiative, noting that: "Social networks have long been fertile ground for antisemitic remarks and, unfortunately, under the auspices of the Corona, there is an increase in antisemitic discourse in those networks blaming the Jews. "As part of our extensive program to combat anti-Semitism that we presented several months ago," Israel was exposed today, "we are working with the heads and ministers of education of European countries and the European Union to promote educational programs and measures on the subject."

At the same time, Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt, president of the European Rabbinical Conference, said that "the conference welcomes the British organizations and celebrities that resonate the war on anti-Semitism and the preservation of Jews in Europe. We are leading the war on anti-Semitism on social media,

The "If You Will" movement said: "It is impossible for the Twitter network to turn itself into an antisemitic city square where everyone competes with each other who spreads more hatred against Jews. We do not live in the Middle Ages and we must not abandon Diaspora Jewry who are the first to be harmed."
