The Finance Committee is now discussing expanding the grant program. • Coalition chairman Miki Zohar said: "Families with children do not have to pay for this, the government will agree to a grant of NIS 500 for the fourth child, NIS 250 for the fifth child and NIS 100 for the sixth child" • Gafni: " We will consult with committee members "• Live broadcast

As part of the Finance Committee's discussions this morning (Tuesday), the possibility of extending the grant program beyond the third child was raised. According to the coalition's chairman, MK Miki Zohar, the government is expected to agree to the addition.

"There is a decision here that I also wanted to bring on behalf of the Prime Minister in cooperation with all the coalition members," MK Zohar said at the beginning of the debate. "Families with children do not have to pay for having children. The government, to the best of my knowledge and understanding, will agree to a grant of up to the fourth child, including the fourth child, in the amount of NIS 500 per child, on the fifth child NIS 250, the sixth child onwards an additional NIS 100 per child. I think "It is good that we are doing well with the citizens, this initiative, whether it came from any of the Knesset members here, is a positive initiative that helps the citizens of Israel. I hope that the wording of the legislation will proceed according to this wording."

The committee's chairman, MK Moshe Gafni, said in response: "We will see what is proposed in the section, we will consult with the committee members and decide."

The chairman of the Constitution Committee, MK Yaakov Asher, commented on the grant program: "Families with children are also a challenge to Corona and the economic issue. In families with many children in every sector - a soul is a soul and is not erased or moved aside. This is important, especially during the economic epidemic." I support the Finance Committee's struggle that soul is soul and everything is equal. "

As part of the program presented by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Israel Katz, every citizen aged 18 and over is expected to receive a grant of NIS 750. Parents of children up to the age of 18 will be entitled, for only the first three children, to a grant of NIS 500 per child, so that a couple with three or more children will receive NIS 3,000.

However, MK Gafni announced that he opposes the plan in its current form, as it does not provide additional funding for families with four or more children - a common phenomenon in ultra-Orthodox society.

"MK Gafni stands by his unequivocal demand not to discriminate against the fourth and fifth child from the grant program," Gafni's office said a few days ago. "Changing the program in the committee and adding the budget according to the number of children will not delay the grant to Israeli citizens."
