One of the numbers that officials follow in detail when determining the extension or relaxation of the quarantine is that of intensive care beds . In the Province of Buenos Aires , the district most affected by the coronavirus, the growth of contagions set off alarms.

The Buenos Aires Minister of Health, Daniel Gollán, warned that at this rate, intensive care beds "could be collapsed in the second half of August."

" If the cases shoot up a lot, the system will saturate . If the curve grows exponentially, to 30% as we observe week against week, probably sometime in August, the second half of August, we will be at risk of saturation of the system", Gollán said, in statements to El Destape Radio .

"It is a very finite equation. But what we see is that the growth of cases is very strong and worrying, " he said.

The minister was cautious about the new quarantine stage and indicated that they will wait for the results of the next few days, although he did not rule out going back: "Between Thursday and Friday we will see the numbers of the last 15 days and if we make recommendations to close."

The province of Buenos Aires is the most affected region in the country. It totals almost 95 thousand cases, with 1,533 deaths .

The head of the Buenos Aires health portfolio stressed the importance of donating plasma and in this regard said that "in recent days we had 50% more donors", so "today we are more or less well".

When asked about vaccines, he assured that "next year humanity will have at least two or three vaccines against the coronavirus."

"You have to see later the dispute over the supply and the price , this vaccine is beginning to be tested now," he said of the study carried out by the pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and BioNTech, in which Argentina participates.

On the other hand, the minister affirmed that "the number of isolated patients" increased in the health center set up in Tecnópolis, in the Buenos Aires party of Vicente López, after "the incentive" of 500 pesos per day of hospitalization offered by the provincial government, although he said that "there is still resistance."
