Health authorities announced Tuesday July 28 that they had recorded 235 additional deaths from the coronavirus in 24 hours, a new record in Iran, the country in the Middle East most affected by the epidemic which has been gaining ground for a month.

" We have lost 235 of our compatriots due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, " said the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Sima Sadat Lari, during her daily press briefing, bringing the death toll of the pandemic in Iran at 16,147.
