Dear subscribers,
Welcome to this new edition of "Screenshot", your weekly meeting devoted to tech. Summer programming requires, this letter is sent to you again Tuesday morning, which allows me to come back to the appointment of the Secretaries of State of the Castex government, which took place on Sunday evening.
For digital subjects, little change a priori . Cédric O, former Secretary of State for Digital in the Philippe government, is reappointed. With two nuances:
• The title has been revised : it is now “in charge of the digital transition and electronic communications”.
• Its Secretary of State is doubly attached to Bruno Le Maire and Jacqueline Gourault, that is to say to Bercy and to the Cohesion of the Territories. We can feel the weight of the 5G and fiber optic deployment files in France.

Let us dwell for a moment on the expression “Digital Transition”, which bursts into the heart of government.
At first glance, “ digital transition ” is a concept that smacks of “ inspirational ” LinkedIn posts written by experts “ in search of professional opportunities ”. A cousin of “ digital transformation ”, it starts from the rather unstoppable principle that we are facing a technological revolution. Instead of watching it go by in the distance, being its spectators, it is up to us to embrace it fully. To support this "transition".
To parody both Steve Jobs and the Duke of Liancourt, we could write:
- This is a technological revolution? - No, Steve, it's a digital transition.
Apocryphal quoteOften used interchangeably, digital “transformation” and “transition” do not mean quite the same thing.
