Increased robberies and new criminal patterns during quarantine raised concern in the region. After the announcement of the dispatch of Gendarmerie reinforcements to the most critical districts of the Conurbano, there is expectation in the area to know how many troops they will send, in what periods and in which neighborhoods.
In the three municipalities they agree that insecurity is a concern and they observe the increase in cases, the areas where crimes are moving and the modalities. In recent days, in addition to the violent robbery suffered by the media Zulma Lobato at his Munro house , other events were known. In Carapachay , after a violent robbery, they arrested a gang that was wanted for previous events. In San Isidro , they denounced a false letter announcing house-to-house tests as a way to trick victims into allowing them to enter, and messages and warnings are repeated in neighborhood social media groups.
"Last week I went to the supermarket and a girl came running, her wallet had been stolen on the corner, in full view of everyone," said Susana, in a group of Florida residents. In San Isidro, residents exchange data on areas and modalities: “A few days ago they stole bicycles and parked motorcycles. Now they say that they attack the deliveries when they are waiting to deliver the order. You have to be very vigilant ”, adds Liliana Pinto, member of a neighborhood alert group in Martínez.

A few days ago, after several simultaneous raids, seven members of a gang that robbed businesses in San Martín were also arrested. In the area, concern about insecurity grows: on Monday, a man was killed when he resisted the theft of his house, in José León Suárez, where he also had a small kiosk.
The reality of the region does not escape that of other parts of the Conurbano: the pandemic and its social and economic impact hit especially in the marginal sectors. Last weekend there were demonstrations in some neighborhoods, where residents took to the streets - with social distance - to ask for greater security.
According to data from the Province, the crimes had decreased considerably at the beginning of the quarantine, but in the last 30 days the numbers began to compare with the statistics prior to the isolation . For this reason, they have already started sending the first Gendarmes reinforcements to different municipalities, where a total of 600 troops have already arrived . Gendarmerie and Prefecture are already working in Almirante Brown, Avellaneda, Esteban Echeverría, La Matanza, Florencio Varela, Lomas de Zamora, Moreno and Quilmes, although the complaint among mayors is that for now they are only districts governed by the ruling party.
From the National Security Ministry they had announced that they would continue adding neighborhoods to the plan according to need, and that it was planned to assign some 3,000 troops to these operations. Although these are federal forces, which depend on the Ministry of National Security, the coordination and final decision today is in the hands of the Province's Minister of Security, Sergio Berni.
From their team they pointed out that today they are analyzing the variables of the crime map and the availability of troops in the Conurbano, also taking into account the particular problems of each District. "According to this analysis, we will finish defining when and how much will arrive in each municipality in the North zone as well," they indicated. According to they estimate, the schedule of the operations will be confirmed before this weekend.
From the Ministry they also pointed out that street robbery, robbery of shops, theft and violent robbery in homes are today the topics that generate the greatest alarm.
