Jacqueline Sauvage, pardoned in 2016 after being sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2015 for the murder of her violent husband, is dead, Le Figaro learned from the office of her lawyer, Nathalie Tomasini.

In September 2012, then aged 65, she killed her husband, who had beaten her regularly for years, with three shotgun blasts. Following a conviction in 2014 and then in 2015 on appeal to ten years of criminal imprisonment, his low sentence - minimum for this type of crime - had mobilized public opinion.
In January 2016, the President of the Republic François Hollande granted him a partial pardon allowing him to be released from prison early, while his conviction provides for an irreducible safety period of 5 years. In December of the same year, a total pardon had been granted to him.
