The far-right essayist Alain Soral was arrested and taken into custody on Tuesday for "provocation to commit a crime or offense undermining the fundamental interests of the Nation" , said a police source in Le Figaro , confirming information of the Parisian . According to the same source, this arrest by the personal delinquency repression squad (BRDP) follows a statement by the controversial polemicist on his site Equality and reconciliation. A preliminary investigation was opened after this speech. According to Le Parisien , his home was searched.

Accustomed to the courts, Alain Soral, whose real name is Alain Bonnet, has been convicted several times by the courts. The last conviction dates from the end of June on appeal: a 5,000 euros fine, with the possibility of imprisonment in case of non-payment, for contesting the existence of the Shoah. At the end of 2019, he was sentenced to a one-year prison sentence for having described the Pantheon as a “kosher waste reception center” in a video posted on his website. He had been given the same sentence in January 2019 for having insulted a magistrate and made anti-Semitic remarks, then in April of the same year for negationism.
