This is called a ghetto: the initiative will distance the community from all of Israel

The publication in "Israel Today" about the disengagement plan from Israeli society, which is being prepared for us, ostensibly by Deputy Interior Minister Gadi Yabarkan, is cheap populism, sowing sand in the eyes, a plan without real feasibility, and most importantly - one that separates and distances the community from Israel.

However, none of us should be moved by Yabarkan's proposal. Anyone who is unable to oust a general manager in his office, who has allegedly expressed racism towards members of an entire community, saying "it seems to you that Ethiopians will go to play on a field with Jews," is unable to build any settlement on Ethiopian purity, not even a tiny desert hut.

Deputy Minister Yabarkan's proposal sharpens one of the sad phenomena in the current Israeli government - the establishment of separate institutions and government exclusively for Ethiopians.

If we look at the recent appointments, we will see that the Israeli government is, in effect, disengaging an entire community from the Israeli tribal bonfire and establishing a kind of autonomy and ghetto over the purity of Ethiopians in Israel.

Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi will decide in the coming months the identity of Israel's ambassador to Ethiopia. Ostensibly, another significant diplomatic role.

Now they are looking for an Ethiopian to fill this coveted position. Well, it would be better for him to be not only an Ethiopian but also a blue-and-white camp man, a political activist with all his limbs and a preference for a Likud defector for blue and white.

At a good and successful time they probably found. Alli Adamsu will be appointed Israeli Ambassador to Ethiopia. Searched for an Ethiopian for a job in Ethiopia and found! Adamsu's expected appointment indicates the state of mind of the country to poke every Ethiopian in charge of Ethiopians here and there. Adamsu may be suitable to be Israel's ambassador to the United States, Poland, Germany, South Africa and more - if not for the strange claim to be appointed as Israel's ambassador to Ethiopia lies in the fact that the man can read and write Amharic. Perfect, right?

As stated, the Israeli government has appointed a commissioner to integrate Ethiopians with the rank of deputy minister in the Ministry of Internal Security. Before we could digest the exciting appointment of our superior as Deputy Minister, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu immediately decided to give the community another free gift in the form of another political activist, as the Prime Minister's Adviser on Ethiopian Affairs, of course - Avraham Ngusa.

We no longer know what to do with all this good that the current Israeli government is unexpectedly pouring over us. Now the deputy minister in charge of us wants to disengage from the tribal bonfire and launch us into the desert of segregation.

Recently, a phenomenon has taken root in appointing community counselors for Ethiopians. Such appointments are welcome, but they are also dangerous to the community.

"Niche" roles, such as niche localities, are things that have lost their power in Israel. To me, niche appointments are more dangerous than non-Ethiopian appointments to any position. This line of appointments indicates one thing - Ethiopians will take care of Ethiopians, and all other ministries will take care of non-Ethiopian Israelis. These appointments are a refuge for all government ministries that want to tell us in a wavy bristle: As Ethiopians, if you have problems with the establishment, go to your supervisor on behalf of the government.

If an Ethiopian complains of social exclusion or racism, he will be sent to a government commissioner for Ethiopians. In short, we have a coordinator of government actions for Ethiopians. Members of the community find it difficult to criticize these appointments. On the one hand, for the first time in four decades, the community has senior civil servants and politicians, but on the other hand, through these despicable appointments, the government keeps us from being part of the Israeli narrative.

Do not restrict Ethiopians to positions related solely to Ethiopians. We are Israelis just like you, and the niches you put on us do more harm than good to our integration process in society. Most Ethiopian advisers to Ethiopians will not be left, so I fear, to those who have already advised or been in charge. I would like to guess - the next proposal of the Deputy Minister will be to establish for the Ethiopian community autonomy over the purity of the community in the Judean Desert area.
