Kanye West would have bipolar disorder. Implying? 1:23

ANALYSIS (CNN) - I'm not asking you to feel sorry for Kanye West.

The rapper / designer / provocateur may have earned as many critics during his career as followers. But West's mental health, about which he has spoken openly, must be viewed with sensitivity.

Her recent interview with Forbes about some Twitter posts and a press conference in which she made inaccurate statements about Harriet Tubman has raised alarm over West's current well-being.

His wife, Kim Kardashian West, appealed to public sentiment last week with a plea for compassion for her husband, who she acknowledged has bipolar disorder.

"Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who has it, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand," he wrote in a note posted to his Instagram stories. “I have never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am so protective of our children and Kanye's right to privacy when it comes to his health. But today I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health, ”he added.

In terms of the spectacle of all this, we have previously reported these "Ye" themes. But he is not the only celebrity who has faced such challenges in this fish tank that is the entertainment industry:

Jenifer Lewis : In a 2018 interview with CNN, the "Black-ish" star spoke about West's meeting with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office that he had been so widely reported on.

Lewis acknowledged that he knows very well how it feels to live with bipolar disorder under the eyes of the public.

She was first diagnosed in the 1990s and wrote about her struggles against mental illness in her memoir, "The Mother of Black Hollywood."

Lewis cried worried about West at the time.

"Part of the mess is not wanting to tame the mania," he told me. When you're up, you're so up and it feels great, but it's dangerous. It is very dangerous, "he explained.

She and I discussed the need to remove the stigma surrounding mental illness, especially in the black community.

"I can't express enough how dangerous this disease is," said Lewis. And it is a disease. People need to start treating it as a disease as they do with cancer, not as something to point it out and to laugh about, "he added.

Several Hollywood celebrities face mental health illnesses.

Britney Spears : Many have treated West like a joke. Like another celebrity whose mental health has made headlines.

Britney Spears' younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears chimed in last week after singer Halsey posted a series of tweets about mental illness.

Now is not the time for jokes. I have dedicated my career to offering education and information about bipolar disorder and I am very disturbed by what I am seeing, ”Halsey wrote. "Putting personal opinions about someone aside, a manic episode is not a joke. If you cannot offer understanding or sympathy, offer your silence, ”she said.

No jokes right now. I have dedicated my career to offering education and insight about bipolar disorder and I'm so disturbed by what I'm seeing. Personal opinions about someone aside, a manic episode isnt a joke. If you can't offer understanding or sympathy, offer your silence.

Jamie Lynn Spears gave her perspective.

"If you are dealing with a mental illness or care for someone with a mental illness, then you know how important it is to respect the situation in privacy for the person and family trying to protect their loved ones, no matter what it seems to the public, and as a public we must learn to do the same, ”Spears wrote according to reports that accounted for a post on Instagram that was later deleted.

She then went on to defend her older sister, after being asked in a comment to "clarify the assumptions" about Britney Spears' state of mind.

"I would never speak just to clarify things to the public, when the person to whom it belongs (the information) does not want that to happen," Spears wrote. "I prefer to put up with all the hatred, (to) talk about someone else's personal issue, which they want to keep private," he added.

Britney Spears has been the subject of tabloid press for her health since 2007, when she was hospitalized for mental health treatment and her father was awarded custody of her affairs.

The #FreeBritney hashtag gained traction for those who want that guardianship to end.

Spears posted a message on Instagram last year to let her followers know that "Everything is fine."

Still, the #FreeBritney campaign has continued - and this month escalated due to a pending guardianship legal matter - as his health is shattered by the public.

Tamar Braxton : This was the case when it was reported that Braxton, who stars in the "Braxton Family Values" series , was hospitalized last week.

"This is an extremely difficult time for Tamar and her family as she navigates professional and personal struggles, including her battle with depression," Braxton's boyfriend David Adefeso said in a statement to People .

"Tamar is currently receiving the best medical care available to address those battles and strengthen her mental health, and her family and I will remain by her side during treatment," he added. "Mental health is a common problem that affects 1 in 5 Americans," he recalled.

During this pandemic time, those numbers could increase as many of us are stressed, anxious, and worried about the future.

Those who are under the gaze of public opinion and face mental health problems should awaken our empathy and serve as a reminder to ask for help if necessary.

CNN has reached out to representatives of the three celebrities for comment, but has yet to receive responses.

For your weekend

Three things to see:

Speaking of mental health, "The Weight of Gold" addresses the issue in relation to Olympic athletes.

The HBO Sports documentary features interviews with some of the sport's elite, including Michael Phelps, Sasha Cohen, Gracie Gold, and Bode Miller, who talk about the anxiety and depression that comes with being successful and decorated athletes.

"The Weight of Gold" debuted on HBO Max on Wednesday (HBO is owned by the parent company of CNN).

During these difficult times, sometimes the world just needs a little more Oprah Winfrey.

Oprah makes everything look better.

Her new Apple TV + show, "The Oprah Conversation," premieres today and, according to a press release on the show, Oprah will lead "timely and intimate discussions with top journalists, opinion leaders and teachers of her trade today. in day".

It seems that the first episode will be intense. Winfrey will (remotely) converse with Ibram X. Kendi, Boston University professor Andrew W. Mellon in Humanities, who will speak to white readers as they seek to confront their own racist beliefs and become anti-racists.

Queen Beyoncé meets again.

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter is blessing us with a new visual album.

"Black Is King" is slated to release at Disney + on Friday and is based on music from "The Lion King: The Gift," the soundtrack he selected for the 2019 remake of Disney's "The Lion King," which also starred.

Honestly, is there anything this woman can't do?

Two things to listen to:

Alanis Morissette returns.

Isn't it ironic that while some of us yearn for the 90s, Alanis Morissette has a new album about to come out?

Twenty-five years after the release of "Jagged Little Pill," Morissette will release her ninth studio album, "Such Pretty Forks in the Road," on Friday.

It looks like we can prepare for a vintage introspective Morissette.

"I love anger," he told Rolling Stone earlier this month. "It moves worlds. It helps me set limits and change things, "he said.

Another pillar from the 90s, Brandy, will also release a new album on Friday.

Her eagerly awaited seventh solo studio album "B7" includes collaborations with Chance the Rapper, singer Daniel Caesar and Brandy's own teenage daughter Sy'rai.

One thing to talk about:

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston shared a moment at the SAG 2020 Awards in January.

Emmy nominations were announced on Tuesday. The show will take place virtually in September due to the pandemic, so unfortunately we will not have a chance to relive the moment of "when Brad met Jen" as it happened in the last awards season, when former spouses Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were nominated at multiple events.

The couple has been divorced for 15 years, but that has not stopped people from being fascinated by them.

Something to assimilate:

You know you're officially old when a Spice Girl's son is getting married!

Brooklyn Beckham, the 21-year-old son of former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and her superstar husband David Beckham, recently asked the question of his 25-year-old actress girlfriend, Nicola Peltz.

Now the couple share some of the intimate photos of their engagement on social media.

I can't imagine a life without you, baby, you make me feel so special and you make me laugh all the time. I will always take care of you and I will always support you », Beckham wrote in the caption.

For the record: Her father and mother were 24 and 25 years old, respectively, when they married. (What do you think the chances are that Mrs. Beckham will design her future daughter-in-law's wedding dress?)

Come back here next Thursday for the latest happenings that matter in Hollywood.

#HappyWednesday So my ❤️ @lirisc & I had a convo yesterday about the power of words & the # 2020IsTrash thing. She reminded me that we all need to look to the future and be careful what we give energy to. So let's claim the better times that are surely coming. From now on it's # 2020BeenTrash because we want what's going on now to be our past as we look to the testimony rather than the test. #LevelUp #GetUPeopleWhoPullYourCoat
