The Ministry of Energy published this morning (Thursday) the update of fuel prices for August and shows an increase of one penny when the price of a liter of 95-octane gasoline in self-refueling will be NIS 5.45. Prices will take effect on the night between Saturday and Sunday (2.8.2020).

In May, in the midst of the corona crisis in the world, the price of a liter of gasoline was only NIS 4.79, due to the drop in world fuel prices.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy published data on fuel consumption in Israel for the first half of 2020 this week.

Gasoline and diesel consumption recorded a decrease of about 43% in the first half of 2020, according to data from the Fuel and Gas Administration. The peak in the decline in consumption came in late April, in the midst of the first wave of the corona, but since then, following the recovery of the economy, the consumption of these fuels has risen, returning to the corresponding level in these months last year.

The Ministry of Energy notes that the estimate of the decrease in consumption, compared to the corresponding period last year, is in light of the restriction of movement in the public space following the spread of the corona virus, which was mainly reflected in March. The restrictions meant that most of the public in Israel stayed at home for a long time, and they rarely, at times, used private or public transportation.
