The Gafa people remain in solid health despite the coronavirus and all, with the exception of Alphabet (Google), record higher turnover.

No worries for the Gafa. The four tech giants close the second quarter of fiscal 2020 with great fanfare, starting with Amazon, which appears to be the big winner of the pandemic with turnover up 40% to nearly $ 89 billion and a net profit which doubles to 5.2 billion.

Its results published on Thursday were welcomed on the stock market, where its title appreciated by 5% during electronic exchanges after the close. The e-commerce giant increased its delivery capacity by 160% during the Covid-19 health crisis.

For its part, Facebook saw its profit almost double, to more than $ 5 billion. Its turnover has increased by 11% reaching $ 18.7 billion and its title has jumped 7% during electronic exchanges after the close of the Stock Exchange.

Apple also affirms an iron health for this second quarter of 2020, largely defeating the expectations of the market by announcing this Thursday of an 11% growth over one year of its revenues in the third quarter of its staggered fiscal year, to 59.7 billions of dollars. The action of the Californian giant climbed nearly 5% in electronic trading after the close of Wall Street. The company also announced a stock split to make the stock accessible to a wider range of investors.

Profit and turnover down for Alphabet

Only Alphabet, Google's parent company, saw its net profit fall and its turnover decline, but its results were nevertheless better than expected. The net profit of the online search and advertising giant hit $ 6.96 billion, almost three billion lower than a year earlier. Turnover, for its part, fell some 2% to $ 38.3 billion. That's a billion more than Wall Street expected and at $ 10.13, earnings per share are well above expectations.
