Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande: the most nominated for the MTV 2020 Awards for the video «Rain On Me»

(CNN Spanish) - With nine nominations each, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande stand out for the next installment of the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, which will be broadcast live from New York on August 30 and that can be seen in Latin America by the MTV Latin America chain. 

The striking thing is that both compete for the same video: «Rain On Me», in the categories of «Video of the year», «Song of the Year», «Best Collaboration», «Best Pop Artist», «Best Cinematography», « Better Visual Effects »and« Better choreography ». 

These two women are followed by Billie Eilish and The Weeknd with six nominations each. 

The Latinos nominated this year are: Anuel AA ft. Daddy Yankee, Ozuna, Karol G & J Balvin for the song “China”; Bad Bunny for "Yo Perreo Sola", Black Eyed Peas ft. Ozuna & J. Rey Soul with the video “MAMACITA”, J Balvin for “Amarillo”, Karol G ft. Nicki Minaj for "Tusa" and Maluma ft. J Balvin for “Qué Pena”. 

J Balvin is the Latino with the most nominations: «Best Collaboration» and in the category of «Best Latin Video», he competes for three videos: “Amarillo”, “China” and “Qué Pena”. 

While Karol G has three nominations: "Best Collaboration" and two in the category of "Mideor Video Latino" for "Tusa" and "China". 

The MTV VMAs are the first award that reveals the nominees through voice tweets, in addition to presenting new categories: "Best Home Music Video" and "Best Quarantine Performance." 

Starting today, fans around the world will be able to vote for their favorite video in the 15 gender-neutral categories, including "Video of the Year," "Artist of the Year," "Best Quarantine Performance" and more by clicking here.
