(CNN Spanish) - Considered the father of Impressionism, Claude Monet, a painter of light, lived a life full of ups and downs that were reflected in his works, some full of color and others dark. Together with those of other impressionists, they are the main pieces of the exhibition "Monet experience and the impressionists" in Mexico.

A multi-sensory experience with over 800 images of the most iconic paintings by master Claude Monet and other Impressionism artists, will take visitors on a virtual journey based on the experience of enchanting images and sounds, and immerse everyone in the masterpieces from this painter who captured what he saw on canvases that, if viewed closely, seem to come to life.

Why is Claude Monet important? What is your legacy? Who's Monet? The historian Gerardo Traeger assures that he was and is a great artist: «His whole life and everything he did is very important. Claude Monet is a character who was born into a middle class family in France. He studied painting. He lived a very intense life surrounded by poverty, he lived on borrowed and even came to live with Renoir. He was one of the creators of the salon of "the rejected". One day he painted "Impression, rising sun", which gives rise to the so-called impressionism, because a critic mocked him saying "these impressionists", in a pejorative way for the title of the painting ".

An awesome miniseries

But to delve into Monet's life of Impressionism, technology gets its way with six episodes of a miniseries featuring the story of various Impressionists whose works will be part of this exhibition. Each episode will narrate various aspects of the life and work of the French artist that will serve to understand the exhibition. The person in charge of telling each story is Traeger, who through his experience and knowledge will bring visitors closer to the life and work of Claude Monet.

Chapter 1 - Poverty, rejection and the great battle fought by Monet and his companions.
Chapter 2 - Monet and his contemporaries; the parents of impressionism. (Part 1)
Chapter 3 - Monet and his contemporaries; the parents of impressionism. (Part 2)

Chapter 5 - The Rouen Cathedral; how Monet painted it more than 30 times doing an unpublished study on light.
Chapter 6 - Giverny; the wonderful gardens designed by Monet, who he painted for the rest of his life.

The chapters are available on the official page of the exhibition or you can click here.

The main characteristic of the Impressionists is the juxtaposition of colors. «They never put a green, what they did was put stripes and green stripes with stripes and yellow stripes to achieve the green color they were looking for at a distance. They didn't mix colors in the palette, they made the eye match these colors naturally. The second characteristic was the subjects they painted. They were very vulgar subjects for the time or very daily subjects, like painting a naked woman in a park, a man sweeping or a drunk man in a tavern. Art at that time was mythology, history, great characters and great landscapes, "says Traeger.

The Monet and the Impressionists exhibition promises to be full of art, music, colors and sounds. Although it was planned to open its doors in April and May 2020, and given the contingency due to the covid-19 pandemic, it will be available at the Buenavista Forum in Mexico City from September to November 2020.
