The Government will have trouble convincing that it seeks to improve Justice

At this point in history, the Government already knows, although its members prefer not to say it in public, that associating the terms "Kirchnerism" and "improvement of institutional quality" in the same sentence is an impossible feat . Kirchnerism did not come into this world to do that. There should not be a single voter from the Front of All who has chosen Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner to fulfill that mandate.

That is why it is so easy to find unconfessed intentions in judicial reform and in convening a group of lawyers, judges and teachers to assess changes in the Supreme Court and the Judicial Council. If in that group of advisers there are lawyers hired by the Vice President of the Nation to organize their personal defense and that of their children against the criminal complaints that have accumulated in recent years, since it almost becomes impossible to even speak of intentions "Not confessed".

The President had already felt this tension when he announced the plan to nationalize the Vicentin cereal factory. What Argentinean could interpret that this movement was destined to "save" the company? Apparently none .

Just yesterday, the Santa Fe government terminated its attempt to implement a "plan B" - after the failure of the original idea of ​​the Casa Rosada - to appoint auditors of the Nation and the province to manage the company. Everything indicates that food sovereignty has been left, at least for now, without fathers or mothers to claim it .

With the judicial reform and the adjustments to the Court, at least in the beginning, something very similar happens. With a government coalition whose leaders have repeated for years that their intention is to "go for everything" and that the courts are part of a cog that works in coordination with the largest companies in the country, the US embassy and the media of communication to stop the advent of the sovereignty of the people, what really existing individual can interpret that the decision of the president and the vice-president is to make an aseptic modification of the organization of the federal courts and thus betray the promise that all this time to militants?

Fernández's presidency was born with a claiming vocation, and that is why it is so difficult for him to set an agenda with a development set exclusively in the future. The ideas that it is necessary to “recover” lost levels of social justice, internal consumption, state participation in the market for goods and services, or “independence” in foreign policy are an essential part - to use a buzzword - of the speech that allowed Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner to return to power. The failure of the Macri government helped a lot in that process, but it is completely legitimate that the voter of the Front of All does not exclusively settle for having removed Cambiemos from power.

In their 12 years in power, Néstor and Cristina Kirchner appointed hundreds of judges across the country, from all possible instances. The vice presidency today was not enough. The judicial reform of the federal justice system that had been revealed by the Government itself several months ago was also not sufficient .

Now it was the President who presented, as if it were his idea, the creation of a politically biased council of experts and presented in a scenario thinned more by the rejections than by the pandemic. The opposition has already warned that it would not give the support , which the ruling party does not have on its own, to appoint new judges to the Supreme Court.

Regarding the judicial reform bill, on the other hand, the leaders of Together for Change did not show unequivocal rejection. Will the President get the votes for federal justice reform and let the plan to increase the number of members of the Supreme Court languish as Cristina wants? To what extent will the President be involved in the task of obtaining the missing votes for the President of the Senate to seat new magistrates at the top of the Judiciary? The end of the Vicentin project, destined to go out on a flash drive in a ministry drawer, does not seem applicable to this case.

Cristina has already shown that this topic matters a lot to her . The vice president found in late April - when she sought in vain for the signed endorsement of the judges to implement the virtual sessions in the Senate - that the Court, whose members agree on practically nothing, remained as elusive to its claims as before. Since that day, there has been no global pandemic or reformist project by the President that has diverted it from its focus.
