The Supreme Court rejected two petitions by an organization for the protection of the environment and a group representing residents along the Mexican border, and ruled that the construction of the wall in the "smuggling corridor" - will continue
Work to build the wall will continue. President Trump is patrolling near a new section of the wall
The U.S. Supreme Court last night (Friday) rejected a petition by two groups seeking to prevent the construction of the wall promised by President Donald Trump along the U.S.-Mexico border, with $ 2.5 billion in funding approved by Congress for the Pentagon.
These are petitions of two groups of petitioners: the Sierra Club and the Southern Border Coalition. The petitions were rejected by a 5 to 4 majority, with five judges affiliated with the Republican Party (Conservatives) voting in favor of dismissing the petitions and four judges affiliated with the Democratic Party (Liberals) opposing.
After approval by Congress for funding, the Trump administration pledged to build a wall, patrol and lighting roads in places along the border that were identified as drug smuggling corridors. Petitioners asked the court to prevent the completion of construction before the end of the proceedings.
"Sierra Club" is a group that advocates for the preservation of the environment, and the "Coalition of the Southern Border" ostensibly represents citizens living along the border.
