(CNN Spanish) - Amid the covid-19 pandemic facing Puerto Rico, the island's governor, Wanda Vázquez, signed a decree on Friday that will maintain the curfew daily between 10:00 PM and 5: 00 PM from this Saturday until August 15.

In addition, all shops are closed on Sundays, with the exception of pharmacies, supermarkets, gas stations and hardware stores. That same day, restaurants may operate for home delivery. The rest of the week, establishments serving food should limit public access to 50% of the local capacity.

The decree also maintains the prohibition for the consumption, sale and sale of alcoholic beverages from Monday to Saturday, from 7:00 P.M., in all the shops and establishments authorized by the decree.

On the other hand, the use of common areas in urbanizations, such as swimming pools, gyms and courts of condominiums, urbanizations or any other housing complex, is prohibited. The beaches and spas will be closed on Sundays, and the closure of the marinas continues, according to the executive order.

As for the tourism industry, hotels, including short-term rentals that do not have a hotel identification number from the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (CTPR), are prohibited from opening and operating at all times. The statement also clarifies that "owners and tenants will be subject to the penalties imposed for non-compliance."

In mid-July, the governor had signed a decree that reversed the process of gradually reopening the island, ordering the closure of several establishments already authorized to operate, including gyms, movie theaters, discos, casinos, parks. of attractions, theaters and bars.

As of July 31, the Puerto Rico Department of Health recorded 5,997 confirmed cases of coronavirus, 10,784 probable cases, and 219 deaths.
