The 51-year-old father and his daughter were swept away by a patch of snow on their way down from the glacier via the Escarra route, the Briançon CRS said. The man then fell. He was unconscious when his daughter, held back by the rope, regained consciousness and was able to call for help.

Despite the intervention of the latter, the father succumbed to his injuries. The young girl, seriously injured but whose life is not in danger, was transported to the Grenoble hospital center. An investigation was opened, entrusted to the CRS of Briançon.
