In front of 16bis, rue de Chaussy, the procession stops and marks a minute of silence. Some relatives, in tears, come to lay a rose on the sidewalk, at the very place where Thomas, 23, collapsed last May. "Rest in peace my son, cry out in pain, his mother." Now we want to get justice! "
"Exemplary justice for the repeat offender"
About three people took part in the white march in tribute to Thomas, this Saturday in Sarcelles. The procession set off, in silence, from the André-Malraux room to the scene of the tragedy, in the village district. At the head, his closest friends held a banner calling for "exemplary justice for the repeat offender."
The young man, who died on June 11, had been stabbed in Sarcelles (Val-d'Oise) a month earlier, on the night of May 9 to 10 by a forty-something, recently released from prison. That evening, he was celebrating the end of his employment contract with a friend. Around 8 p.m., he goes down to the grocery store, crosses paths with an acquaintance and follows her to her apartment.
There he meets his murderer, accompanied by a woman. An altercation breaks out. "He was jealous because my son seemed to like this woman," said his father, Philippe Charbonnel. Around midnight, the young man leaves. But he was caught by his attacker, hit in the head and stabbed eight times.
According to the father, the assailant was known for aggravated acts of violence
Philippe Charbonnel is now calling for “answers. I want to understand what happened, to know the truth about the facts. And above all, to know why the aggressor of my son, a repeated offender, was outside, at large when he is a dangerous individual. The dysfunctions of justice killed my son. According to him, the attacker was known for acts of "aggravated violence".
In the procession, led by his closest friends, Thomas is unanimously described as a "smiling", "funny", "generous" boy. “He liked to party, meet people, enjoy life,” says Céline, his cousin. He gave his all in everything he did. "He was a great guy, always happy, there for others," adds Abel, 24, Thomas's friend for more than ten years.
“He was very active,” says his father. He always managed to work for example. Before the health crisis, Thomas, who left his studies after a CAP in commerce, worked as a sushi delivery man in the evening, before putting on the VTC suit until 5 am.
His activities having disappeared due to confinement, the young man had found a job with Monsieur Bricolage. “He was celebrating the end of his contract the night he was stabbed, Philippe blows. He had to go on a job in a beverage distribution company. "
He loved the freestyle scooter
When he was not working, Thomas saw his "band of friends", whom he had formed from childhood in the streets of the village, or played sports. "He played football, table tennis," says his father. And especially a lot of freestyle scooters. Thomas loved it. "
