Indian police this week arrested a serial killer, who murdered dozens of taxi drivers, and fed them crocodiles. The man admitted to the acts, but Indian police are still unsure how many taxi drivers are involved, as the killer claims: "I lost count after 50 murders."

Devender Sharma, a 62-year-old Indian medicine practitioner, rented taxis outside New Delhi from 1994-2004, traveling with them to the Indian capital. He killed the taxi drivers in a remote place and dumped their bodies in a river infested with crocodiles, who in turn were enthusiastic about the change in diet. "It is very difficult to find the bodies," the Indian police explained, admitting that in fact almost no remains of the taxi drivers were found.

Unsurprisingly, Rama is no stranger to law enforcement in India: About twenty years ago he was convicted of taking part in a criminal organization that killed truck drivers, and sold their fuel cargo. In 2004 he was further convicted of trafficking in illegal organs, and admitted to selling 125 kidneys.

But the Indian authorities were unaware that at the time he was cheating on illegal organ trafficking, he was also vigorously involved in the murder of taxi drivers. It is not yet clear whether the murder of dozens of taxi drivers is linked to organ trafficking.

Sherma ran a 16-year prison sentence, and was released in January this year. The information about the serial murder of the taxi drivers was given to the police as early as the beginning of the year, but Sharma went underground and the police were unable to locate him. This week he was finally caught, while marrying a new woman in New Delhi.
