Coronavirus: more than 1,000 new cases per day this weekend, resuscitations are on the rise

The coronavirus continues to be rife in France, where 29 people have died from it over the past three days, the Directorate General of Health (DGS) announced on Monday, August 3 in its daily press release. 556 cases were detected in 24 hours.

Regarding hospitalizations, 5,198 patients are currently being treated, including 384 in intensive care - or 13 more serious patients since Friday. The regions " Île de France, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Hauts-de-France and Guyana group together 68% of patients in intensive care ", specifies the DGS.

289 “ clusters ” are still active in the region, including 5 new ones that have been detected in the last 24 hours, the DGS no longer communicating figures on weekends.

Between July 25 and 31, 564,275 tests were carried out in the territory, with a positivity rate of 1.5% . Since the start of the epidemic, 107,569 people have been hospitalized and 82,166 have returned home.

In order to reduce the risk of infections, and in addition to the new decree allowing municipalities that wish to impose the wearing of a mask even outside, the DGS recommends avoiding too large friendly and family gatherings. " Favor small groups, equip yourself with masks for the general public and hydroalcoholic gels, prefer outdoor spaces, ventilate the premises, activate Stop Covid, protect the most fragile ", she explains.

Globally, the 18 million mark since the appearance of the virus was crossed yesterday, for a total of at least 690,181 deaths.
