India reported almost 53.00 more cases of covid-19

India on Monday registered 52,972 coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases nationwide to 1,803,695, according to the country's Ministry of Health.
Last week was the deadliest the country has seen since the pandemic began. Over 5,300 covid-19 related deaths were identified, while 315,000 new cases were reported during the same period
At least 38,135 people have died from the virus in India as of Monday. More than 1,186,203 people have recovered, approximately 65% ​​of all cases.
New Travel Guidelines: On Monday, the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued new guidelines for international air passengers entering the country.
The guidelines, which will take effect on August 8, include the following:
Individuals traveling to India must submit online self-declaration forms at least 72 hours prior to travel
Anyone entering the country will agree to quarantine for 14 days, consisting of seven days of institutional quarantine and another seven days at home.
Travelers can receive an exemption from institutional quarantine if they can provide a negative covid-19 test performed within 96 hours prior to their trip.
The guidelines also allow states to develop their own quarantine and isolation protocols.
However, it is not clear how many people actually plan to come to India. Almost all international passenger flights to the country are prohibited until August 31, a measure that has been in force for more than five months. The only flights to the country from abroad are to repatriate Indian citizens.
Domestic flights resumed on May 25 and cargo flights are still operational.

Declare "major incident" in Manchester, England

"It is part of our desire to protect the Greater Manchester population and provide them with the highest levels of assurance that the agencies are doing their utmost to reduce infection rates and return Greater Manchester to a state of normalcy as close as the current times allow it ».
The UK has identified more than 306,000 coronavirus cases, according to data from the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center. More than 46,000 people have died from covid-19, according to the university, the fourth highest number in the world.

Bolivia records its highest number of deaths from coronavirus in one day

Mexico reports almost 5,000 new cases of coronavirus

Another 4,853 people were diagnosed with covid-19 in Mexico, the country's health ministry said Sunday, with a national total of 439,046.
The secretariat also reported 274 new deaths, bringing the number of deaths in Mexico to 47,746.

Philadelphia Eagles coach tests positive for covid-19

Doug Pederson, the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles of the United States National Football League, tested positive for covid-19, the team said in a statement.
Pederson is asymptomatic and "fine" in the quarantine, the team said.
Pederson has coached the Eagles since 2016. He led the team to his first Super Bowl victory in 2018.

Philippine capital to re-impose stricter coronavirus restrictions

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte announced Sunday that he would re-impose tighter coronavirus restrictions in the capital city of Manila, as the number of confirmed infections in the country exceeded 100,000.
The new restrictions, called "modified improved community quarantine," will be enforced in Manila and the provinces of Laguna, Cavite, Rizal and Bulacan starting at midnight on Tuesday. The rules state that people under the age of 21, people over the age of 60, those with health risks, and pregnant women must remain in their residences. The only exceptions are people who go out to buy essentials and work, according to the CNN Philippines affiliate.
Duterte's decision comes after at least 80 medical associations signed a letter urging the president to tighten the restrictions. “We are exhausted, both physically and mentally. Most of us are already infected with covid-19, ”said the president of the Philippine College of Physicians, Mario Panaligan, in an open letter from August 1, according to CNN Philippines.

Brazil exceeds 94,000 deaths from coronavirus

The Brazilian Health Ministry reported 541 new covid-19 deaths on Sunday, bringing the country's total to 94,104.
The Latin American and Caribbean region exceeded the total of 200,000 deaths from the virus, with Brazil with the highest number of deaths and representing almost half of the total for the region.
The Brazilian Ministry of Health also reported 25,800 recently confirmed cases, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 2,733,677.
Last week, First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro and two ministers in the government of President Jair Bolsonaro tested positive for covid-19. Since the start of the pandemic, eight high-ranking officials have been infected with the new coronavirus. That includes the President, the First Lady and six Ministers. Since then, President Bolsonaro recovered and tested negative for the virus.
