The School Committee of the University of Hong Kong approved the immediate dismissal of Dai Yaoting, one of the "three sons" of the Hong Kong University School of Law. The Hong Kong University Students’ Association initiated a joint statement earlier and collected more than 2,500 signatures from teachers and students, requesting the school committee to withdraw its decision. The chairman of the Hong Kong University Student Union, Yip Chi-lin, and Li Zicheng, a representative member of the undergraduate student committee of the University of Hong Kong, submitted a joint signature to the school today (3rd) to express their dissatisfaction. The school arranged for the dean to receive the letter.

The co-signature that requested the withdrawal of Dai Yaoting's dismissal has collected more than 2,500 signatures. The Hong Kong University Student Union criticized that the 18 members of the school committee who voted to fire Dai did not represent the voice of the University of Hong Kong.

The University Committee of the University of Hong Kong convened a meeting last week. After nearly three hours of meeting, it finally approved the immediate dismissal of Dai Yaoting, associate professor of law. It is understood that the school committee finally passed the decision with a large ratio of 18:2.

Together with Chairman Li Guozhang and President Zhang Xiang, the University Council of the University of Hong Kong currently has 23 members. The elected staff representative and Professor Chen Zhiwu of the School of Economics and Business Administration were absent, and 22 people attended the meeting. It is reported that the vote was a secret ballot, and Zhang Xiang did not vote; and Zhang Daming, the chief lecturer of the School of Law, abstained from the venue because he assisted in the follow-up of the Dai Yaoting Occupy Central case and involved a conflict of interest.
