Following the publication in "Israel Today" according to which the IDF may destroy strategic goals of the Lebanese government if Nasrallah carries out a revenge attack, officials in the country rushed to release their own threat • "Hezbollah's response will be very rapid and will target the home front in Israel."
Lebanese media cite senior Beirut sources who said that "Israel's threats to shell infrastructure in Lebanon are a declaration of war."

As reported in "Israel Today" last week, Defense Minister Bnei Gantz ordered the IDF to prepare for the possibility of an Israeli response to the Lebanese state's infrastructure in the event that Hezbollah harms Israeli civilians or soldiers.
A senior security source told Israel Today that the directive was given during the internal discussions that Gantz held last Thursday, with the participation of Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi and top IDF officials. During the discussions, the Chief of Staff presented the IDF's position on the issue, according to which responsibility should be placed on Hezbollah's expected response and its implications not only for the organization, but also for the State of Lebanon and its government.
According to the same source, "If the organization tries to carry out another attack, we will see an unconventional action by the IDF against it and the State of Lebanon."
