The first sign had been of alarm. The news that Juan Román Riquelme was being operated  on amid a pandemic rebounded strongly on social media. However, the intervention to which the second vice president of Boca underwent this Monday was not only scheduled, but is also not at risk.

Those who saw him enter the San Isidro clinic attest that the 42-year-old former midfielder limped in. Román's illness? The liquid that was in his left knee and that generated a lot of discomfort, despite the fact that until not long ago (and before the quarantine) 10 still showed himself playing soccer with friends: in fact his brother had uploaded videos to the networks where JR was seen training with everything thinking about what was going to be his farewell in the Bombonera.

For the peace of the Boca fans and also Riquelme himself, the operation is ambulatory: everything will be resolved this Monday. In addition, as if this situation lacked a little more security, the work was carried out by the historic Jorge Batista, one of the most recognized doctors in the country and, obviously, with a step in the Xeneize .

It is not the first time that Román, who had the operation scheduled for quite some time and that, as he fell in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, took all the measures and protocols in the case, dedicating time and interventions to his left knee. In fact, he had already been operated on at the same place in 2010 due to a meniscal discomfort. Now, apparently, it should be in perfect condition.
